Benedict Cumberbatch, Elisabeth Moss to lead The Power of the Dog

Benedict Cumberbatch and Elisabeth Moss will headline the film adaptation of Thomas Savage’s novel, The Power of the Dog. The film, which also carries the same title, will be directed by Jane Campion, who won the Best Screenplay Oscar for the The Piano (1993).

Calling The Power of the Dog a novel that "deserves to be on the big screen," Campion says that she couldn’t stop thinking of the story and the themes that it presented. "It's also rare to find a story where the themes, the plot, and the characters build tension as they reveal each other and even the end is satisfying and unexpected."

The Power of the Dog, which marks the director's first film with a male lead, will go into pre-production towards the end of the year.
