The upcoming remake of Coolie No 1, starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan, will release on May 1, 2020, the makers announced on Thursday. The film is directed by David Dhawan, who also helmed the 1995 original starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor. The new version is scripted by Farhad Samji and will go on floors in September. 

Varun has previously worked with his father on Main Tera Hero and Judwaa 2. Speaking about their third film together, the actor had earlier told us, “Scripting is going on for Coolie No 1. We are in the process of locking the script. Some dialogue work is left. I’ve heard the film and have already taken my dialogues. It's a very performance-oriented role. The original film is one of my top five favourite films of all time.” Varun added that the new version is not a remake but an adaptation. 

Varun Dhawan was last seen in Abhishek Varman’s Kalank. He is presently working Street Dancer 3D, co-starring Shraddha Kapoor. The actor has a cameo appearance in Salman Khan’s Bharat.
