Anushka Shetty, who was last seen in the horror thriller, Bhaagamathie. will reportedly star in a mega-budget mythological film centered around Lord Ayyappan, to be directed by director-cinematographer Santhosh Sivan. 

Gokulam Gopalan, who last produced the ambitious Malayalam film Kayamkulam Kochunni, is bankrolling this multilingual, which will get a release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi. The film, which is scripted by newcomer Prashanth and currently in pre-production, is expected to go on floors this August. AR Rahman is reportedly in talks to compose the music for this yet-to-be-titled biggie.

Interestingly, August Cinema is also making a Malayalam film on Ayyappa, titled Ayyappan, directed by Shankar Ramakrishnan, and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead. Anushka Shetty, meanwhile, is all set to reunite with Madhavan for an upcoming silent film titled Silence. Santosh Sivan. on the other hand. is directing another Malayalam film, Jack and Jill, starring Kalidas Jayaram and Manju Warrier, which is currently in the final stages of shoot.
