Speculations are rife that popular producer Gnanavel Raja has acquired the Tamil remake rights of Kannada superhit film, Mufti, an action thriller about an undercover police officer, played by Sriimurali, who tracks down and confronts a dreaded underworld boss, portrayed by Shiva Rajkumar.

It's being said that Arya and Simbu have been approached to play the lead roles in the remake. While Arya is expected to play an undercover cop, STR is reportedly still in talks to play the gangster. Sources say that Sarathkumar has also been approached for an important role.

Narthan, who helmed the original, is expected to take up the directorial responsibilities of the remake. An official confirmation is awaited in this regard.

Simbu, who was last seen in a special appearance in Oviya-starrer 90 ML, has Venkat Prabhu's Maanadu followed by films with Seeman, Gautham Menon and Karthick Naren in the pipeline. Arya, who recently wrapped up his portions for Suriya's Kaapaan, will also be seen in Mounaguru fame Shanthakumar's next, titled Magamuni.
