Pankaj Tripathi to play Janhvi Kapoor's father in Gunjan Saxena biopic

Pankaj Tripathi has bagged an important part in the upcoming Gunjan Saxena biopic, starring Janhvi Kapoor. Hailing from New Delhi, Gunjan was among the first female combat pilots recruited in the Indian Air Force. She conducted rescue operations during the 1999 Kargil War and became the first female recipient of the Shaurya Chakra. In the film, Pankaj will be playing the role of Gunjan's father Anuj Saxena. Directed by Sharan Sharma, the military drama is presently under production in Lucknow. 

About his role Pankaj says, "I am excited to play Janhvi's father in the film. A great bonding has developed between us while working on the sets. I am having a lot of fun while shooting for the film. Janhvi is a very sincere and well-behaved actor. She respects me a lot and I too respect her for the sincerity and commitment towards her work. Sharan Sharma is a talented director and is well versed with his craft. It's an opportunity working under Dharma Productions. They leave no stone unturned to get the right things on board."

Pankaj and Janhvi will be shooting in Lucknow till the end of this week. While his last project was the romantic comedy film, Luka Chuppa, which was released yesterday, Pankaj Tripathi's upcoming projects include Super 30, Drive and Mirzapur season 2.
