Prakash Hebballa's Hafta, an unusual crime thriller involving a transgender character

The director tells us character of the trans person, played by Vardhan, is the soul of Hafta; the film apparently features the actor in a dual role

For his debut, director Prakash Heballa has chosen a subject that focuses on a transgender person. Hafta, which is going to be released this week, comes with all the ingredients of a commercial entertainer, he tells us.

“It is a mass underworld subject revolving around a trans person. Set in the coastal areas of Karnataka, the film has two lead characters, who are wanted sharp shooters,” says the debutant director, adding that the character of the trans person, played by Vardhan, is the soul of Hafta. 

The film apparently features Vardhan in a dual role. Hafta, made under Maitri Productions, also stars Raghav Naag, along with Bimbashree and Sowmya, these last two play a bharatanatyam dancer and a call girl, respectively.

Gautham Shrivatsaa and Vijay Yardley have scored the music of Hafta, while Cinitech Soori is the film’s DOP.
