The sequel of the village rom-com Kalavani, starring Vemel and Oviya, has been slated for release on June 28. The film, titled Kalavani 2, is directed by Sargunam, who helmed the original. 

While Saranya Ponvannan reprises her role from the original as the mother of Vemel, RJ Vignesh will be seen in an important role.

A source close to Oviyaa reveals that she will be playing a mother in the sequel. "This role will be quite a contrast to her other film 90 ML. In this Vemel-starrer, she will be seen as a bold woman in traditional clothes," adds the source.

Vemal, meanwhile, is awaiting the release of Kanni Rasi. Oviyaa, on the other hand, has Halitha Shameem's Silukkuvarpatti Singam and an untitled film with Snehan in the pipeline.
