The Burnt Orange Heresy announced as the closing film for Venice Film Festival

CE Features

The Elisabeth Debicki and Claes Bang-starrer, The Burnt Orange Heresy, has been selected as the closing film for the 2019 Venice Film Festival. The heist thriller, also featuring rock legend Mick Jagger and veteran actor Donald Sutherland, is directed by Italian filmmaker Giuseppe Capotondi, who is making a comeback after a gap of 10 years.

Described as an erotic neo-noir thriller, the film is about a charismatic art critic James Figueras (Bang), who hooks up with provocative fellow American, Berenice Hollis (Debicki). The duo travel to the opulent Lake Como estate of powerful art collector Cassidy (Jagger). Cassidy reveals that he is the patron of Jerome Debney (Sutherland) and has a simple request for Figueras and Hollis — to steal a Debney masterpiece from the artist's studio, whatever the cost.

The organisers have revealed that the movie, adapted from the novel by Charles Willeford for the screen by Scott B Smith and produced by David Zander, David Lancaster and William Horberg, will be screened out of competition at the festival.

The 76th edition of the Venice Film Festival will run from August 28 to September 7.
