Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are all set to star in Ridley Scott's next film, The Last Duel.

Based on Eric Jager's book -- The Last Duel: A True Story of Crime, Scandal, and Trial by Combat in Medieval France -- the story is about two duelling warriors in 14th century France. It follows a man who, after returning from war, discovers that a friend of his has raped his wife. At a time when no one believes the woman, the soldier appeals to the King of France asking for a duel to death to decide the man's fate, thereby leading to the last legally-sanctioned duel in France.

It is interesting to note that Affleck and Damon have penned the script, along with Nicole Holofcener of Can You Ever Forgive Me? fame, and this is their first collaboration since their famous 1997 film, Good Will Hunting, which earned the duo an Academy Award for Original Screenplay. It is also the second film for Damon and Scott after 2015's The Martian.

The Last Duel will be co-produced by Scott Free Productions and Damon and Affleck's Pearl Street Films.
