Deepika Padukone to work with Luv Ranjan? Fans protest with #NotMyDeepika

Hours after Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were spotted at director Luv Ranjan’s residence, presumably to discuss an upcoming project, #NotMyDeepika started trending on Twitter. Fans were upset that Deepika, a vocal supporter of the #MeToo movement, would choose to work with Luv, who was accused of sexually harassing an actor.

Luv’s films, such as Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, have been criticized for their misogynistic portrayal of women and catering to a male-specific audience. It was announced last year that Ranbir Kapoor and Ajay Devgn would team up with Luv for a film. The untitled project was slated to release on December 25, 2020, but was delayed due to disclosed reasons.

Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor have previously worked together in Bachna Ae Haseeno, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Tamasha. Deepika recently wrapped up Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak. She is also a part of 83, starring Ranveer Singh.
