Whiplash-fame Damien Chazelle has begun working on his next feature film, Babylon, and the filmmaker wishes to cast Emma Stone in the role of Clara Bow, one of the top stars of Hollywood during 1920s.

La La Land-producer Marc Platt is bankrolling Babylon along with Olivia Hamilton, Matthew Plouffe and Tobey Maguire. Though the exact details of the plot are being kept under wraps, the film will reportedly revolve around Hollywood's transition from silent films to talkies.

Chazelle, who has also penned the screenplay of Babylon, is currently busy with his Netflix series, The Eddy. Meanwhile, Stone, who is fresh out of the success of Yorgos Lanthimos' The Favourite and TV series Maniac, has Zombieland: Double Tap in the lineup.
