Multiple award winning cinematographer M J Radhakrishnan has passed away at a private hospital following a cardiac arrest. He was 60, according to reports.

A native of Kollam, Radhakrishnan began his career as a still photographer and later met director Shaji N Karun, with whom he formed an enduring bond. After working as an associate for a while, he began independent work with the film Maamalakalkkapurathu, in 1988.

A seven-time recipient of the Kerala State award, Radhakrishnan has worked in over 75 films, establishing long and fruitful collaborations with filmmakers such as Jayaraj and Dr. Biju as well. His notable works include Deshadanam, Perariyathavar, Kaliyattam and Karunam. His most recent work was Olu, directed by Shaji and starring Shane Nigam.
