Speculations about the roles of Vijay in Bigil have been doing rounds ever since the first look of the film was released. Though a few reports stated that the actor is playing a single character, who sports two different looks in two timelines, the latest news states that he plays dual roles as the father and son in the film, and the name of the characters are said to be Ramana Giri and Clement Michael, respectively. 

The son character is expected to be a women's team football coach, and the father is expected to be a leader of a fishermen community. It may be recalled that Vijay sported different looks for both his previous films with director Atlee — Theri and Mersal. 

Bigil, which has Nayanthara playing the female lead, has music by AR Rahman. The film is scheduled to hit the screens on Diwali.
