Ashok Selvan, who was recently in the news for signing a murder mystery with Janani, will be making his Malayalam debut with Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, starring Mohanlal in the titular role.

The actor is reportedly playing a negative role for the first time in the film and has been learning Malayalam to get the pronunciations right. Directed by Priyadarshan, the historical film set in the 18th century also stars actors from various film industries like Prabhu, Arjun, and Suniel Shetty. The shooting of Marakkar is currently happening in Hyderabad.

It can be noted that Ashok Selvan played one of the leads in Priyadarshan's AIDS awareness film, Sila Samayangalil. Apart from this project, the actor has films like Redrum and Jack in his kitty.
