There are multiple biopics in different stages of production on the life of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. One of them, titled Iron Lady, is directed by Priyadarshini, a former associate of Mysskin, while a second will be directed by veteran director, Bharathiraja. There is also a web series helmed by Gautham Menon in the works.

Another film version, which is produced by Vibri Media - the makers of Ranveer Singh-starrer 83 and the recently released NTR biopic - is directed by Vijay, who is at present working on Watchman and Devi 2. This Jayalalithaa biopic has long been speculated to feature Vidya Balan and Sai Pallavi as Jayalalitha and Sasikala, respectively, though there has been no official confirmation on this.

However, National Award-winning actor Samuthirakani has confirmed in a recent media interaction that he had been approached by Vijay to star in the biopic, and that he has given the go ahead.

The film is said to be trilingual, which will be shot simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
