The shooting of the long-awaited film, Indian 2 began yesterday in the outskirts of Chennai. The Shankar-directorial has Kamal Haasan reprising his role as Senapathy and Kajal Aggarwal as the female lead. While the original 1996 film was written by Sujatha, the sequel is penned by a team of writers -- Jayamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu and Lakshmi Saravanakumar. Anirudh Ravichander has replaced AR Rahman as the composer. 

Even though it is heavily speculated that Siddharth is part of the project, the makers have not commented on his involvement. Carrying the tagline, 'Older, Wiser, Deadlier', the film is said to talk in detail about current social issues, and the plot is expected to begin right where the first part ended. 

Indian 2 is bankrolled by Lyca Productions, which also produced Shankar's previous film, 2.0.
