Ajith Kumar, who has been shooting for AK 59 for the past few weeks, landed in Hyderabad yesterday to kickstart the next schedule of the H Vinoth directorial.

AK 59 is produced by Boney Kapoor, husband of the late actor, Sridevi, under his banner of Bayview Projects LLP. The film, which is the official remake of the Bollywood film, Pink, was launched in Chennai in mid-December.

While Ajith plays a lawyer (portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan in the original) who champions for the rights and dignity of women, journalist-turned-actor Rangaraj Pandey will be reprising Piyush Mishra’s role of the defense lawyer from the original.

Apart from these two, the film will also star Vidya Balan (in her Tamil debut), Shraddha Srinath, director Adhik Ravichandran, Arjun Chidambaram, Abhirami Venkatachalam, Andrea Tariang, Aswin Rao, and Sujith Shankar. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the film's music director, while Nirav Shah is its cinematographer.

The makers are determined to get AK 59 released on the 1st of May 2019, coinciding with the actor's birthday. Meanwhile, Ajith is all set to follow up the Pink remake with a full-fledged commercial entertainer, which will also be produced by Boney Kapoor. AK 60 will go on floors in July 2019 and will have a grand worldwide release in May 2020.
