Renowned film producer Jayashree Devi died of cardiac arrest today morning at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad. She was 60 years old.

Jayashree Devi, who started her career as a producer and director with Kona Edaithe, which starred late Vishnuvardhan and Kumar Govind, went on to direct a film called Bhavani. Then she took up film production as her full-time profession and produced Kannada films like Nammora Madara Hoove, starring Bhavani, Shivarajkumar, Ramesh Aravind and Prema, the cult classic Amrutha Varshini, starring Suhasini and Ramesh Aravind, Sri Manjunatha, and the thriller Nishyabda, starring Vishnuvardhan, Sumanth, Mohini and Revathy. 

She was the executive producer for Sudeep-Upendra starrer Mukunda Murari (2016) and was recently associated with the making of the mega-budget historical film, Muniratna Kurukshetra.

Jayashree Devi's remains have been transferred from Hyderabad to Bengaluru, where her last rites will be performed.
