The 66th National Film Awards were distributed by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi today. Among the luminaries, actors Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmann Khurrana and Keerthy Suresh, director Sriram Raghavan, and filmmaker-composer Sanjay Leela Bhansali were honoured at the event.

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, who was to be conferred with the 50th Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest honour in cinema, skipped the event due to health issues. In a note, Amitabh Bachchan shared that he was down with fever and has been advised not to travel. “Will not be able to attend National Award tomorrow in Delhi. So unfortunate... my regrets,” he wrote.

Also present at the event was actor Akshay Kumar, whose film Pad Man won the award for Best Film on Social Issues.
