The trailer of Rajinikanth's Darbar, directed by AR Murugadoss, was launched yesterday in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, at the event held in Mumbai. Rajini, who was answering questions from the press, along with Murugadoss and the film's antagonists, Suniel Shetty and Prateik Babbar, said that playing a transgender person is topmost on his bucket list. The answer surprised the audience and the guests on stage. 

He revealed that he consciously avoided cop roles post the release of Pandian, as all scripts demanded the hero be a disciplined policeman and he didn't find that to be fun. But Darbar's Aaditya Arunasalam, he said, has a unique layer. And behind all the playfulness and fun in the character, there's a tragedy, that he won't be able to reveal now.

Rajini also added that the impact of Alex Pandian (from Moondru Mugam) on the audience is huge and he needed a role that would surpass that to play a cop again. "Murugadoss was extra-careful with every single detail to make Aaditya enjoyable for the fans," he said.

Also starring Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas, and Yogi Babu, Darbar has music by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography by Santhosh Sivan. The film is scheduled to hit the screens this Pongal.
