Ajith's upcoming film, Valimai, directed by H Vinoth, has gone on floors at the Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad. Some fiery action sequences, involving the Viswasam actor, are reportedly going to be shot in the first schedule. A popular Hollywood stunt choreographer is said to have been roped in to supervise these high-risk stunts.

Producer Boney Kapoor recently confirmed that Valimai, which will star Ajith as a cop, will be a Diwali 2020 release. This will be Ajith's first cop film since Gautham Vasudev Menon's Yennai Arindhaal (2015).

Valimai will also mark Ajith's first Diwali release in five years after Vedhalam (2015).

According to reports, the current schedule does not include scenes for the heroine, and talks are apparently on with Ileana D'Cruz, Yami Gautham, and Rakul Preet to play the female lead.  The team is expected to move to Europe for the subsequent schedules.

Valimai will have music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Nirav Shah, and art direction by Thotta Tharani.
