Director Abishek Kapoor, known for films like Rock On and Kai Po Che, will next be helming a film based on the 2019 Balakot airstrikes. This project will be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bhushan Kumar, Mahaveer Jain, and Pragya Kapoor.

The yet-to-be-titled film will focus on the Indian Air Force's strike following the Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed. As a consequence, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was held captive for three days. This project is being planned as a pan-Indian film, which will be produced on a significant budget.

In a statement, Abhishek said, "To be entrusted with one of India's bravest stories is an honour for me. I remember the emotions that ran through the entire country when the strike was carried out. I am determined to do justice to this story in my endeavour to bring it to the silver screen." Bhansali added that the film is a tribute from him to the officers who work for the country.
