The speculations around Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film continue. The actor was earlier rumoured to work with Tamil director Atlee on a masala entertainer. This was followed by reports of him teaming with Rajkumar Hirani and Raj & DK. And now, the latest reports say the actor has signed a film with Malayalam director Aashiq Abu.

On Wednesday, Aashiq met Shah Rukh at his Mumbai residence, Mannat, and reportedly signed him for his next.

The as-yet-untitled project will be penned by Kumbalangi Nights writer Syam Pushkaran and go on floors by the end of 2020. Further details about the film and its genre are awaited.

Aashiq made his directorial debut with Daddy Cool (2009), followed by films like Salt N’ Pepper, 22 Female Kottayam, Idukki Gold, and Mayaanadhi. His last offering was Virus (2019), a medical thriller set against the backdrop of the 2018 Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala.

Meanwhile, Aashiq is also working on his next Malayalam feature with Soubin Shahir, in addition to a segment titled Pennum Cherukkanum for an anthology project. Syam's next Malayalam film is Thankam, starring Fahadh Faasil and Joju George.
