Biopic on IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal in the works

CE Features

A biopic on Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Durga Shakti Nagpal is being planned. Durga Shakti rose to prominence for her drive against illegal sand mining in Uttar Pradesh. In 2013, the young civil servant was suspended by the state government for allegedly demolishing an illegal mosque wall in Greater Noida. The suspension was widely criticised by opposition parties and environmentalists, who viewed it as bureaucratic punishment for her fight against corruption. Her suspension was later revoked by the then Samajwadi Party-led government.

The biopic on Durga Nagpal’s life will be co-produced by Azure Entertainment and Redice Productions.

In a statement, Sunil Kheterpal of Azure Entertainment said, “This is an inspirational story of a brave soul who is an epitome of courage. Durga Shakti showed exemplary grit and courage to tread the path of idealism and righteousness. At Azure, our priority is providing entertainment to the audience while not compromising on the strong and powerful content.”
