Producer Boney Kapoor, who is reuniting with his Nerkonda Paarvai team of actor Ajith and director H Vinoth in Valimai, has confirmed that the Viswasam star will play a cop in the film. Revealing more about Valimai at an award ceremony, Boney confirmed that the film will be a Diwali 2020 release.

This will be Ajith's first cop film since Gautham Vasudev Menon's Yennai Arindhaal (2015). Valimai will also mark Ajith's first Diwali release in five years after Vedhalam (2015).

With music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Nirav Shah, and art direction by Thotta Tharani, Valimai goes on floors on December 13. 

Although details about the rest of the cast and crew are under wraps, for now, it is speculated that Nazriya or Nayanthara might be part of the film.
