Ranveer Singh turns Gujarati hero in Jayeshbhai Jordaar

CE Features

Yash Raj Films has unveiled Ranveer Singh’s first-look from Jayeshbhai Jordaar. The film, written and directed by debutant Divyang Thakkar, tells the story of an ‘unlikely hero’ from Gujarat.

In the picture, Ranveer is seen in a new look as he stands before a group of veiled women. Speaking about his character, Ranveer shares, “As Charlie Chaplin once said, ‘To truly laugh, you must be able to take your pain, and play with it!’. Jayeshbhai is an unlikely hero — an ordinary man, who ends up doing something extraordinary when he’s hurled into a threatening situation. Jayeshbhai is sensitive and compassionate. He believes in equal rights for men and women in a society that is deeply rooted in patriarchal ideals, practices, and doctrines.”

The actor adds, “Jayeshbhai presented an exciting challenge — to deconstruct myself in order to transform into a kind of character I’ve never inhabited before.”

Jayeshbhai Jordaar went on floors last month. The film stars Shalini Pandey as the female lead.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh’s upcoming release is '83, directed by Kabir Khan.
