We had earlier reported that Simbu will be part of Venkat Prabhu’s upcoming film Maanaadu, produced by Suresh Kamatchi. Reports now suggest that the actor will begin shooting for the project in January, and has been hitting the gym in preparation for the same.

The project has been facing multiple delays due to a variety of reasons that almost forced the makers to consider changing the hero. This fracas also lead to Simbu announcing his own project named Maghaamaanadu, directed by his father T Rajendran. However, the situation was solved amicably after Simbu's mother stepped in and assured the actor's presence during the shooting.

Originally, the project was supposed to have Kalyani Priyadharshan play the female lead and Yuvan Shankar Raja in charge of music. However, there has been no official word on whether there is a change in the cast and crew due to the delay.
