Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi are reuniting for an upcoming film titled Mimi. The actors have previously collaborated on Bareilly Ki Barfi and Luka Chuppi. Produced by Dinesh Vijan, Mimi is helmed by Luka Chuppi-director Laxman Utekar. The film is inspired by the National Award-winning Marathi drama, Mala Aai Vhhaychy, which dealt with the growing practice of surrogacy in India.

Dinesh said, "There's a thrill in telling poignant stories, and then there's a thrill in telling ones that are based on true events. Mimi is one such tale. It's a story that struck a chord with me, it explores a beautiful relationship between a woman who never wanted to be a mother and one who can't wait to be one. What's unexpected about the story is the humorous vein that runs through it and that’s what makes Mimi exciting."

Kriti was last seen in Arjun Patiala. Her upcoming releases are Panipat and Housefull 4. On the other hand, Pankaj Tripathi, who plays the antagonist in Sacred Games 2, has recently been cast as Janhvi Kapoor’s father in The Kargil Girl
