Robert De Niro, Shia LaBeouf to star in crime drama, After Exile

Robert De Niro and Shia LaBeouf have been roped in to star as a father and son in the upcoming indie crime drama, After Exile.

LaBeouf will essay the role of an ex-convict who, after being released from prison for killing a man, tries to get back on his feet with the help of his alcoholic father, De Niro, who is also an ex-con. These two then band together to save LeBeouf's younger brother from a life of drugs and crime. 

Directed by Joshua Michael Stern, the script is by Anthony Thorne and Michael Tovo. 

De Niro has two big movies — DC's Joker and Martin Scorsese's The Irishman — awaiting release, while LeBeouf has David Ayer's The Tax Collector.
