Michelle Williams will be back as Anne Weying for Venom 2.

The news comes a few days after the announcement that Andy Serkis is set to direct the upcoming sequel. Ruben Fleischer directed the first movie, which grossed an impressive $856 million worldwide in 2018. Williams said of the director, “I’m such a fan of Andy’s, and I’m so inspired by what he’s been able to accomplish.” She continued, “He’s so gifted in such a specific way, and I’m very excited to learn from him and be around him.”

Williams also said would like to play more She-Venom. “I hope I get equal time that way — I can say that!”

Tom Hardy is set to return as the title character in the Venom sequel, while Woody Harrelson is expected to return as Cletus Kasady/Carnage.

Kelly Marce, best known for Fifty Shades of Grey, has written the script. Marcel, who will also executive produce the movie, was one of the screenwriters on the first film. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal will produce again.

The film is reportedly scheduled to start filming the sequel in November.
