Mahesh’s Maharshi pre-release gig on May Day

The countdown to the release of one of the highly-anticipated films of the year, Maharshi, starring Mahesh Babu, has begun. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, the social drama is all set to hit the screens on May 9.

Meanwhile, the makers have planned the pre-release gig at People’s Plaza on May 1 coinciding with the International Workers' Day. Thousands of Mahesh fans are expected to turn up at the event, which will be graced by the entire cast and crew of the film. It is also learnt that the team is planning to unveil the theatrical trailer at the event.

Initially, the makers wanted to organise the event at the LB Stadium, but the government of Telangana refused permission due to the recent catastrophe.

The film shows Mahesh in three different looks -- as an entrepreneur, a student, and a farmer and grapevine is that the story is set against the backdrop of The Pasarlapudi blowout that took place on January 8, 1995, near Amalapuram of East Godavari district.

Produced by Dil Raju, Ashwini Dutt and Prasad V Potluri, Maharshi also features Pooja Hegde and Allari Naresh in crucial roles. Music of the film is by Devi Sri Prasad.
