Singer, voice actor, and #MeToo campaigner, Chinmayi Sripaada was banned from the Tamilnadu Dubbing Union on November 17, last year, without a show cause notice, citing non-payment of ‘subscription fees’ for the past two years.

This meant that she couldn't work in the Tamil film industry, as membership was deemed essential for dubbing artists.

In a subsequent dubbing union meeting, it was announced that Chinmayi could be reinstated into the union if she were to pay 1.5 lakh rupees, tender an apology letter and submit a re-application to be added as a member.

Chinamyi took the issue to the court, and as a response to her plea, the court had placed an interim stay on her ban from the Tamilnadu Dubbing Union on March 25.

The recent development in this matter is that the court has now extended the stay on the ban on Chinmayi's working in Tamil Films by the Dubbing Union. This means that she is legally allowed to work in Tamil films henceforth.
