Vada Chennai to have its international premiere at the Pingyao Film Festival in China

Netflix’s acclaimed anthology film, Lust Stories, and Ivan Ayr’s debut film, Soni, will be the other Indian films to be screened at the festival

Vetrimaaran's upcoming film, Vada Chennai, starring Dhanush, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Andrea Jeremiah, will have its world premiere in the Gala section at the second Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival (PYIFF), China.

Said to be the first part of an ambitious trilogy, Vada Chennai marks the third collaboration of Vetrimaaran and Dhanush after Polladhavan and Aadukalam. Also starring Daniel Balaji, Kishore, Ameer Sultan and Karunas in supporting roles, the film will feature Dhanush as a carrom champion, who gets drawn into a mafia gang unwillingly.

Initiated by Chinese director, Jia Zhangke, with former artistic head of Locarno, Venice and Rome Film festivals, Marco Mueller as its artistic director, the PYIFF will be held in the heritage city of Pingyao in China from October 11 to 20.

Netflix’s acclaimed anthology film, Lust Stories (2018), will also be screened at the festival. The third Indian production in the schedule is Ivan Ayr’s debut film, Soni, which will be screened under the Crouching Tigers section for new talent.
