Jackie Shroff to play Salman Khan’s father in Bharat, confirms director Ali Abbas Zafar

Director Ali Abbas Zafar has roped in veteran actor Jackie Shroff to play Salman Khan’s father in his upcoming film, Bharat. Adapted from the South Korean film, Ode to My FatherBharat is an epic drama film set across six decades of Indian history. The film also stars Katrina Kaif, Tabu, Disha Patani and Sunil Grover. Salman Khan and Jackie Shroff were last seen together in Veer (2010). They have also worked together in films like Kyon Ki…Sirf Tum and Bandhan.

“We met Jaggu da (Jackie Shroff) in London and discussed his dates and looks. I've wanted to work with him for a long time as I feel he is the perfect amalgamation of a star and actor. I was very glad that he agreed to do the film after just 20 minutes of narration,” Ali Abbas Zafar shared in a statement.

The first schedule of Bharat was wrapped up in Mumbai, followed by the second schedule in Malta. Upcoming shooting locations include Abu Dhabi, Punjab and Delhi.

Salman Khan and Ali Abbas Zafar have previously collaborated on two successful films — Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai.

Bharat is co-produced by Reel Life Productions, Salman Khan Films and T-Series. The film is expected to arrive in theatres around June, 2019.
