Pathemari and Adaminte Abu director Salim Ahamed's next film, And the Oscar goes to, will have Tovino Thomas playing the role of a struggling filmmaker. The film's first look was unveiled by the makers today.

In an earlier conversation with Cinema Express, Salim told us that Tovino's character is a first-time filmmaker and that the film is not based on a true story or Salim's own experiences. According to him, it's a story inspired by the lives of many struggling filmmakers we see around us.

Anu Sithara will be playing the main female lead and a newcomer from abroad will play the second female lead. Siddique, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Salim Kumar comprise the supporting cast of the film, shot in Los Angeles, Canada, Chennai, and Kochi. 

Salim made his directorial debut with Adaminte Makante Abu, which won four National Awards and four State awards. The director's previous film, Pathemaari, starring Mammootty, won the National Award for Best Feature film.

Tovino will be next seen in Fellini TP's Theevandi and Madhupal's Oru Kuprasidha Payyan. He is currently working on Prithviraj's directorial debut Lucifer alongside Mohanlal and Manju Warrier.
