Aditya Chopra’s romantic cult classic, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), has completed a 23-year run in theatres. Released in 1995, the film immortalised Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s onscreen pairing and redefined the Bollywood love story.

Expressing his joy, Shah Rukh tweeted:

Earlier this week, Kajol had tweeted about the successful 1200-week run of DDLJ and thanked fans for showering their love on the film.

DDLJ was produced by the late Yash Chopra and marked Aditya Chopra’s directorial debut. It became the highest grossing film of 1995 and won as many as 10 Filmfare awards, besides the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Mumbai’s famous Maratha Mandir has been screening the film non-stop ever since its release and still plays it everyday at 11.30 am.
