2D version of Muniratna Kurukshetra ready for Censor Board’s verdict

A Sharadhaa

Muniratna Kurukshetra, the mythological drama made with a huge budget, will get both a 2D and a 3D release. This is one of the reasons that the team is taking time with the post production work.

So far, there has been no update from the makers as to when the film will hit the screens. However, we hear that the 2D version of Muniratna Kurukshetra will be presented to the censor board in the coming days, following which the 3D version--70 per cent of which is complete--will be presented to them. Our source also tells us that producer Muniratna will soon reveal details about the film’s status.

The film, based on the Mahabharata, is helmed by more than one director, and features Darshan in a role of Duryodhana. With the audio rights bought by Lahari, plans to hold a mega audio launch are also in the offing. However, dates for the same are yet to be announced. Muniratna Kurukshetra, bankrolled by KCN Movies, will be one of the most expensive films made in Kannada in recent times.

In addition to director Naganna, V Nagendra Prasad and two other technicians have also taken on directorial responsibilities for the film.

Muniratna Kurukshetra is Darshan’s 50th film, and has an impressive star cast that includes Ambareesh, Arjun Sarja, V Ravichandran,  Nikhil Kumar, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Sneha, Hariprriya, Meghana Raj and P Ravi Shankar.

Another highlight of the film are the songs, along with shlokas and skanda padya, with music by V Harikrishna and lyrics by Nagendra Prasad. The historical period drama has cinematography by Jayant Vincent.
