A Prophet to be turned into a TV series

The Jacques Audiard-directorial, A Prophet, is being made into a TV series by producer Marco Cherqui. The latter has teamed up with Why Not Productions' founder Pascal Caucheteux's to adopt the 2009 crime film.

"The series will neither be a prequel nor a sequel but rather a reboot. It will be different from the film in the same way that Matteo Garrone's film Gomorrah was different from its TV adaptation," says Cherqui.

The Prophet TV series is being penned by Abdel Raouf Dafri, the screenwriter of the International Emmy Award-winning Braquo in collaboration with Nicolas Peufaillit.

The series will follow the trajectory of a young Arab man from an underprivileged suburb who ends up behind bars and becomes a different man. Actor Tahar Rahim played the leading role in Audiard's film and his performance was widely appreciated.
