Copyright suit filed against Akshay Kumar-Vidya Balan's Mission Mangal

US-based filmmaker Radha Bhardwaj has filed a copyright infringement suit against the makers of Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan’s upcoming film, Mission Mangal. 

Directed by Jagan Shakti and co-produced by Fox Star Studios and Cape of Good Films, Mission Mangal is based on ISRO’s landmark 2014 Mars Orbital Mission. The film also stars Sonakshi Sinha and Taapsee Pannu is scheduled to go on floors next month. 

In her suit, Bhardwaj has claimed that the film infringes on the copyright of her screenplay, Space MOMs, which is also based on the story of women scientists behind the Mars Mission, PTI reported.

Bhardwaj claims she had given her script to producer Atul Kasbekar in 2016, who had showed it Jagan Shakti despite signing a nondisclosure agreement. She mentioned in her suit that her screenplay was registered with the US Copyright Office.
