The pre-production of Prithviraj's upcoming film, Kaaliyan, will begin soon, according to producer Rajeev Nair. This update confirms that the project is definitely on track, and not abandoned, as some have speculated. The shoot is being planned to take place during the second half of 2019.

Nair revealed on social media that he has had discussions with Prithviraj on the shooting schedules and auditions. Tamil actor Sathyaraj will reportedly have a major role in this period epic, which is said to be inspired by the ballads on Iravikuttipillai, a politician and military commander who lived in the 1600s.

Kaaliyan will be produced under the banner of Magic Moon Productions. The actor has one more epic on the way, Aadujeevitham, helmed by Blessy. Kaaliyan will most likely begin after Aadujeevitham is wrapped up.
