After his last directorial, Justice League, bombed at the box office, the film's director Zack Snyder maintained a low profile. Now, the Man of Steel director has revealed that he will be helming the cinematic adaptation of Ayn Rand’s 1943 novel, The Fountainhead.

It was earlier said that the filmmaker would direct The Last Photograph, a drama about a war correspondent and a special ops soldier who travel to Afghanistan after being inspired by a photograph. However, Snyder has apparently put that film on hold in order to pursue this project. The director confirmed the news during a recent Twitter interaction with his fans.

The Fountainhead traces the life of an individualistic architect named Howard Roark who refuses to compromise his artistic principles. The novel was first adapted as a film in 1949. Though the film was a failure at the box office, it gained appreciation much after its release.

The upcoming film marks Snyder's break from directing superhero films. The official announcement about the principal cast and crew of the film is yet to be made by the makers.
