Dhanush, who attended the Cannes Film Festival recently to promote his Hollywood debut The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir, had announced last December that he would be teaming up with Sri Thenandal Films for his next directorial venture. It has come to light that the yet-to-be-titled film, in which he also plays the lead role, will go on floors in August.

After a successful career as an actor and producer, Dhanush took his plunge into direction with Pa Pandi last year. The actor had played a cameo in the film, which featured Raj Kiran in the lead. It was lauded by the audience and critics alike and went on to become a hit. A year later, Dhanush is now all set to work on his second directorial, amidst several acting commitments. One of his ambitious projects, Vada Chennai, is scheduled for release in August, closely followed by his gangster comedy Maari 2.

The principal cast and crew of the Thenandal production is yet to be announced. Dhanush has also confirmed that he will be working with Bollywood director Aanand L Rai on a new film, which will commence in 2019.
