Buzz has it that Sai Pallavi, whose last release was Diya, is playing an auto driver in Maari 2. A source close to the film's unit says the Premam actor has gone through special training to drive an auto for the film. However, there is no official confirmation about this.

Directed by Balaji Mohan, the film, like the first part, stars Dhanush as a local don. Kajal Aggarwal played the heroine in the original film. 

Produced by Wunderbar Films, Maari 2, which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, also stars Tovino Thomas, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Krishna and Robo Shankar in important roles. 

The film is slated for release later this year.
