Gambit to go on floors this summer

The project has been in the talks since 2015 and the production of the film has been postponed several times

The long-delayed X-men film, Gambit, starring Channing Tantum in the titular role, might begin very soon. The project has been in the talks since 2015 and the production of the film has been postponed several times due to the exit of three different directors.

The executive producer of the film, Simon Kinberg, disclosed at a recent screening of Deadpool 2 that they've met a couple of directors and will most probably zero in on one soon so that the film can go floors this summer. Previously the film was scheduled for release on February 2019. Now the makers are aiming for a June 2019 release.

Gambit is a mutant with the ability to make explosive weapons using solid objects. The solo film is said to be based on a comic heist-gone-wrong story. It will also track the backstory of the hero before joining Xavier's School of Gifted Youngsters.
