Angelina Jolie to bankroll biopic on Jim Thorpe

Martin Sensmeier will play the lead in the film and co-produce it

Wanted actor Angelina Jolie will be joining hands with Todd Black and Steve Tisch to produce a film called Bright Path: The Jim Thorpe Story, based on the life of the American athlete. 

West World-fame Martin Sensmeier, will be playing the titular role and co-producing the film, which has a screenplay written by Abraham Taylor, Alex Nibley and Sterlin Harjo. 

Jim Thorpe is considered to be one of the most versatile athletes of the 20th Century. The Native American was a member of the Sac and Fox Nation. He represented the US in the Olympics in 1912 and went on to win two gold medals for his country. Despite these achievements, his citizenship was cancelled during the cultural genocide of Native Americans. Thorpe went on to play Major League Baseball, professional Football and eventually founded the organisation that became the National Football League.
