Yash Raj Films ropes in Akshay Kumar for big-budgeted period film

The yet-to-be-titled film is currently in the pre-production stage and is expected to go on floors in February 2019, eyeing an early 2020 release.

Last seen in R Balki's Pad Man, Akshay Kumar has reportedly signed a period drama which will be directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi. The mega-budget project will be bankrolled by Yash Raj Films, marking the actor's association with the production house after a decade. 

Akshay Kumar will be essaying the role of Mauryan king Chandragupta’s political advisor Chanakya in the film. The makers are currently on the hunt for actors to play the other principal characters. A big name from the industry is expected to be roped in for the role of Chandragupta Maurya.

Meanwhile, Akshay, who is awaiting the release of Gold, also has Kesari, Housefull 4 and Mogul in his kitty.
