After helming the 2017 science fiction Maayavan, producer-turned-filmmaker CV Kumar has announced his second directorial titled Gangs of Madras. The film which will feature newcomers in the lead roles is said to based on a true story of a lady gangster.

According to a reliable source, the crew has spent eight months in the pre-production and research works of the film. The source also added that the film will go on floors from July and it will be majorly shot in live locations of North Madras, eyeing a 2019 summer release. Apart from the fresh faces actors like Daniel Balaji, Kalaiarasan and Bagavathi Perumal are said to play import roles in the gangster drama. Debutant Hari Dafusia will  be composing music for this film.
