CE Features

Wrestling star John Cena, who is awaiting the release of the Transformer's prequel, Bumblebee, has been officially roped in to replace Sylvester Stallone in the action thriller Project X.

Cena took his full-fledged plunge into acting in 2006 with Marine, and then went on to do noteworthy roles in the films like 12 Rounds, Legendary, Trainwreck, and Daddy’s Home. The wrestler-turned-actor also has Jason's Directive, co-starring his WWE associate Dwayne Johnson, in his kitty.

Project X is directed by Need for Speed-director Scott Waugh, with a script written by Arash Amel. Reportedly set at a Chinese-run oil refinery in the Middle East, the film, will feature Jackie Chan as a Chinese private security contractor, who is on a mission to save the oil workers from a refinery under attack. John Cena plays an ex-Marine, who becomes an ally of Chan's character after knowing the real plan of the perpetrators.

The film is produced by Jackie Chan, along with Joe Tam, Esmond Ren and Hans Canosa.
