Abhishek Varma's multi-starrer period film, Kalank, is progressing at a brisk pace and the latest actor to join the sets of the film is Sonakshi Sinha. The actor, who is said to sport a new look, will start shooting for her role from today in the suburbs of Mumbai.

Karan Johar, who is co-producing the film, surprised fans when he announced the cast comprising Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur in April. Sources also stated that the film, set in the 1940s, was initially planned to be launched by Karan and his father, Yash Johar, back in 2003.

Sonakshi, who will be seen in a special song in this week's release Race 3, recently finished shooting for the Mudassar Aziz-directorial Happy Phir Bhag Jayegi, co-starring Diana Penty, Jimmy Sheirgill, Ali Fazal and Abhay Deol.
