Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment and James Wan’s Atomic Monster will be joining hands to produce the reboot of the horror-comedy Arachnophobia. The original was released in 1990 and starred Jeff Daniels, John Goodman, Harley Jane Kozak, and Julian Sands. It marked the directorial debut of Frank Marshall, who co-founded Amblin Entertainment. The film, which was based on a Venezuelan spider's attack on the civilians of a small American town, went on to become commercially successful during the time of its release.

Though James Wan has a reputation for making horror films like Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring, it has been made clear that the producer-director will not be directing this reboot. An official announcement about the principal cast and crew is expected soon from the makers.
